Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Partnership on 75th Anniversary

On the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two nations. In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong on Saturday, Xi emphasized the strategic significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

\"China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi stated. He highlighted the profound friendship forged over the past 75 years, during which both countries have \"fought side by side and supported each other\" in their struggles for national independence and liberation. The sentiment of being \"comrades and brothers\" has become, he noted, the most vivid portrayal of the relations between the two parties and countries.

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled the joint pledge to work toward a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. This commitment has elevated the relationship between the two nations to a new stage, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation and mutual trust.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism. \"This has a bearing on the future of the two parties and countries as well as the future of the global socialist cause,\" he said, emphasizing its significant impact on regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate closely with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. By embracing their original mission and advancing on the journey toward socialist modernization, Xi believes that both nations can deliver greater benefits to their peoples and contribute meaningfully to human development and progress.
