Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation, aiming to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
In messages exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, President Xi highlighted the profound friendship between the two nations.
\"China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi stated. He emphasized that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, the two countries have \"fought side by side and supported each other in their struggle for national independence and liberation.\"
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, President Xi noted that both sides pledged to work towards building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. \"We share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between our two parties and countries,\" he remarked.
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism. \"This has a bearing on the future of our two parties and countries as well as the global socialist cause,\" he said, adding that it is significant for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
President Xi expressed his commitment to elevating bilateral relations, stating, \"I attach great importance to the growth of our relations and am willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.\" He called for both countries to \"keep in mind the original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" aiming to deliver more benefits to their peoples and contribute to global development and progress.
