Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation between the two nations. Speaking on Saturday during the exchange of congratulations with Vietnamese counterparts over the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the profound friendship between China and Vietnam, noting that the two socialist neighbors represent a community with shared ideals and aspirations. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he said, underscoring the historical bonds forged through joint struggles for national independence and liberation.
Since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have supported each other and advanced socialism by learning from one another, Xi remarked. He pointed out that the continued pursuit of socialist modernization has deepened comprehensive strategic cooperation, echoing the shared future both countries envision.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to elevate their relationship by working towards a China-Vietnam community with strategic significance. “This raises the relations between our parties and countries to a new stage,” he stated.
Amid unprecedented changes unfolding in the world, Xi stressed that China and Vietnam’s commitment to the socialist path significantly impacts the future of their nations and the global socialist cause. “Our cooperation is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large,” he added.
Xi affirmed his commitment to growing bilateral relations and expressed willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress globally.
