Chinese President expresses commitment to deepen ties on 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the relationship between China and Vietnam, emphasizing the strategic significance of building a community with a shared future. On Saturday, President Xi exchanged congratulatory messages with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring countries.

“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic importance,” Xi stated. He highlighted the deep-rooted friendship forged over 75 years, noting that both nations have stood side by side in their struggles for national independence and liberation. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he said, capturing the essence of the bilateral relationship.

President Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides pledged to elevate their partnership to a new stage. “China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of our relations,” he remarked. The two countries have continuously learned from each other in advancing socialism, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation.

In the face of unprecedented global changes, Xi emphasized the importance of continuing the path of socialism for both nations. “This has a bearing on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” he said. He underscored the significant role that enhanced China-Vietnam relations play in promoting peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large.

Looking ahead, President Xi expressed his willingness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders. “We should seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges,” he urged. By keeping in mind their original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, Xi believes both nations can deliver greater benefits to their peoples and contribute to human development and progress globally.

The reaffirmation of strong ties between China and Vietnam comes at a pivotal time, as both countries navigate the complexities of regional dynamics and global challenges. Their commitment to a shared future not only reinforces their bilateral relationship but also signals a collective effort to revitalize the socialist cause on the world stage.
