Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness on Saturday to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation. He aims to achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that holds strategic significance.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, shared these remarks while exchanging congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam.
“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future carrying strategic significance,” Xi noted. He emphasized that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both nations have stood side by side in their struggle for national independence and liberation. “The profound friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers, vividly portrays the relations between our parties and countries,” he added.
Highlighting the cooperative journey toward socialism, Xi stated that both countries have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation. “China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of our relations,” he said.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled that both sides pledged to work toward a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating the relations between the two parties and countries to a new stage.
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed that China and Vietnam continuing their socialist path bears on the future of both nations and the global socialist cause. This commitment is of great significance to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Xi affirmed his commitment to the growth of bilateral relations and expressed his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders. He urged both sides to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to forge ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization. “Let us deliver more benefits to our peoples and make important contributions to revitalizing the world socialist cause as well as promoting human development and progress,” Xi said.
