Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed readiness to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation with Vietnam, aiming for new achievements in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

On Saturday, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Xi emphasized that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future carrying strategic significance. He noted that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both nations have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation.

“So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” Xi remarked, highlighting the deep ties between the two parties and countries.

In their pursuit of socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and advanced hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation. Xi stated that the shared ideals and common future are the most striking features of the relations between the two parties and countries.

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage.

As unprecedented changes unfold in the world, Xi emphasized that China and Vietnam’s continued commitment to the socialist path has a bearing on the future of both parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause. This commitment is of great significance to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi expressed his dedication to advancing bilateral relations and indicated his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He urged both nations to keep in mind their original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, delivering more benefits to their peoples and contributing to the revitalization of the global socialist cause and human development.
