On Saturday, President Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulatory messages with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. The exchange marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring socialist countries.
\"China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi stated. He highlighted the profound friendship forged as \"comrades and brothers\" during the struggle for national independence and liberation. Xi emphasized that this camaraderie continues to define the relationship between the two parties and countries.
President Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides pledged to elevate their relations to a new stage by working towards a community with a shared future. He noted that China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of their bilateral relations.
Amid unprecedented changes in the world, Xi stressed the importance of both nations continuing to follow the path of socialism. He asserted that this commitment bears on the future of their parties and countries, the global socialist cause, and holds great significance for peace, stability, development, and prosperity regionally and globally.
Looking ahead, President Xi expressed his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
