Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam, Xi emphasized the profound friendship that has developed over decades. \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,\" he stated, underlining the solidarity forged through their shared struggle for national independence and liberation.

President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, reflected on the cooperative journey of the two socialist neighbors. He noted that China and Vietnam have learned from each other while advancing socialism, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation, and pursuing shared ideals. This collaboration, he said, is the most striking feature of the relations between the two parties and countries.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi mentioned the pledge between the two nations to elevate their relationship to a new stage. \"We pledged to work for a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" he said, indicating a commitment to further strengthen ties.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism. He remarked that this path has a significant bearing on the future of both nations and the global socialist cause, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Looking ahead, Xi expressed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. \"I attach great importance to the growth of bilateral relations and am willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges,\" he said. Xi called for both countries to \"keep in mind the original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" aiming to deliver more benefits to their peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
