Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and strengthened practical cooperation between China and Vietnam. In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders on Saturday, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed his congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the profound friendship between the two socialist neighbors, describing China and Vietnam as \"comrades and brothers.\"

\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two countries have fought side by side and supported each other in our struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi stated. \"The shared ideals and pursuit of a common future are the most striking features of our relations.\"

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to elevate their relationship to a new stage by working towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He underscored that in the face of unprecedented global changes, maintaining the path of socialism is crucial for the future of both nations and holds significant importance for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi expressed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and working closely with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. \"Let us keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" he said, emphasizing the goal of delivering greater benefits to the people of both countries and contributing to human development and progress.
