Xi Jinping Calls for Enhanced China-Vietnam Cooperation for a Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam, emphasizing the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that holds strategic significance. In a message exchanged on Saturday with Vietnamese leaders General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Xi highlighted the deep-rooted friendship and shared socialist ideals between the two nations.

“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future,” Xi stated. He reflected on the profound friendship forged over 75 years, during which both countries have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he added, capturing the essence of bilateral relations.

President Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides committed to elevating their relationship to a new stage by working towards a community with a shared future. He emphasized that continued cooperation and mutual learning in advancing socialism are crucial, especially as the world undergoes unprecedented changes.

“China and Vietnam continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has a bearing on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” Xi noted. He underscored the significance of their collaboration for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Looking ahead, President Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation. He highlighted the importance of remembering their original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization to bring greater benefits to their peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
