Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation between China and Vietnam. On Saturday, Xi exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
In his message, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors forming a community with a shared future of strategic significance.
“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two countries have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,” Xi stated. “The profound friendship between Vietnam and China, as we are both comrades and brothers, has become the most vivid portrayal of our relations.”
Xi highlighted that in advancing socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation. “We share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between our parties and countries,” he added.
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to work towards building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, marking a new stage in bilateral relations.
“As unprecedented changes unfold in the world, our continued commitment to the path of socialism bears on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” Xi remarked. “It holds great significance for peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large.”
Xi reiterated his commitment to the growth of China-Vietnam relations and expressed his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “By keeping in mind our original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, we can deliver more benefits to our peoples and make important contributions to revitalizing the world socialist cause and promoting human development and progress,” he said.
