Xi Jinping Calls for Deeper China-Vietnam Cooperation Towards a Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation, aiming to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

In a message exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the profound friendship and shared socialist ideals between the two neighboring countries.

“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi stated. He emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, both nations have stood side by side, supporting each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation.

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled the pledge made by both sides to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating the relationship between the two parties and countries to a new level.

“As the world undergoes unprecedented changes, China and Vietnam’s commitment to the path of socialism bears great significance for the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” Xi noted. He underlined the importance of their cooperation for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi affirmed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, expressing willingness to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “By keeping in mind our original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, we can deliver greater benefits to our peoples and contribute significantly to human development and progress,” he said.
