Xi Jinping Calls for Deeper China-Vietnam Cooperation on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation between China and Vietnam. In messages exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi emphasized the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, Xi highlighted the profound friendship that has developed over decades of close cooperation. \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers,\" he remarked, reflecting on the shared struggle for national independence and liberation.

Xi noted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future of strategic significance. He recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to elevate their relations to a new stage. \"In advancing socialism, the two sides have learned from each other and forged ahead hand in hand, thereby deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation,\" Xi said.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism. He stated that this commitment bears on the future of both countries and the global socialist cause, contributing to regional and world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Looking ahead, Xi expressed his willingness to join Vietnamese leaders in seizing the opportunity of the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for both nations to \"keep in mind the original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" aiming to deliver greater benefits to their peoples and contribute significantly to human development and progress.
