Xi Jinping Calls for Deeper China-Vietnam Cooperation on 75th Anniversary

In a gesture marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam. Xi conveyed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust, enhance practical cooperation, and achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on Saturday. He highlighted the enduring friendship between the two socialist neighbors, emphasizing that China and Vietnam form a community with a shared future.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our nations have fought side by side and supported each other in our struggle for national independence and liberation,” Xi noted. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers.”

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi stated that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating the relations between the two parties and countries to a new phase. He underscored the importance of continuing on the path of socialism amid unprecedented global changes, asserting that the commitment of China and Vietnam to this path has significant implications for the future of both nations and the global socialist cause.

“I attach great importance to the growth of our bilateral relations,” Xi affirmed. “I am willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. By keeping in mind our original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, we can deliver greater benefits to our peoples and contribute to global development and progress.”
