Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries. Speaking on Saturday, Xi highlighted the aim to achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that holds strategic significance.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks while exchanging congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam.
“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi stated.
Reflecting on the history of bilateral relations, Xi noted that since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, both nations have stood side by side, supporting each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. He emphasized that the profound friendship between China and Vietnam, characterized by being “comrades and brothers,” vividly portrays the strong bonds between the two parties and countries.
“In advancing socialism, our two sides have learned from each other and forged ahead hand in hand, deepening our comprehensive strategic cooperation,” Xi said, adding that the shared ideals and pursuit of a common future are the most striking features of the relations between China and Vietnam.
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi mentioned that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage.
“As changes in the world, times, and history unfold in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam’s continued commitment to the path of socialism bears on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,” Xi remarked. He highlighted the significant contribution this commitment makes to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large.
Xi underlined his dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and expressed willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders. He emphasized seizing the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “We should keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,” Xi said, aiming to deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both nations and make important contributions to advancing the global socialist cause and human development.
