Xi aims for stronger China-Vietnam community with shared future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper cooperation and strengthened ties between China and Vietnam, emphasizing a shared future between the two socialist neighbors. In remarks exchanged on Saturday with Vietnamese leaders marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Xi highlighted the strategic significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation. He exchanged congratulations with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, reflecting on the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two countries have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi said. \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers.\"

He noted that China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of their bilateral relations. In advancing socialism, the two countries have learned from each other and made significant strides together, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi emphasized that the two sides pledged to elevate their relationship to a new stage by working towards a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. He underscored the importance of this cooperation amid unprecedented global changes.

\"As changes of the world, of the times, and of history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has significant bearing on the future of our parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause,\" Xi stated. \"It is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large.\"

Xi expressed his commitment to the growth of bilateral relations and his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver more benefits to the peoples of both nations and contribute to human development and progress.
