China Media Group (CMG) held its third rehearsal on Friday for the much-anticipated 2025 Spring Festival Gala, set to air globally on January 28, the eve of the Chinese New Year. The rehearsal showcased a dazzling array of performances, offering a glimpse into the grand celebration that awaits audiences worldwide.

The rehearsal marked the debut of four sub-venues located in Chongqing, Wuhan, Lhasa, and Wuxi. Each venue highlighted unique local cultures through an array of singing, dancing, magic, martial arts, and innovative performances. Audiences were treated to smoother transitions and meticulous arrangements between acts, reflecting the careful preparation behind the gala.

In Chongqing, performers captivated with songs and dances steeped in the city’s distinctive flavor. Wuhan’s sub-venue incorporated new opera, acrobatics, folk music, and classic characters from films and television, blending tradition with contemporary artistry.

Wuxi’s performances connected traditional music with vivid scene interpretations, bridging historical context with modern civilization. Meanwhile, Lhasa’s authentic ethnic performances showcased the friendship and unity among people of all ethnic groups, bringing the richness of Tibetan culture to the forefront.

Enhancing global engagement, CGTN launched an interactive event titled “Snake Year Dance Fun” on international social media platforms. The initiative has garnered active participation from netizens across 42 countries and regions, reflecting the worldwide interest in Chinese New Year festivities.

CMG is set to launch a series of events, including art performances, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and program broadcasts, aiming to immerse overseas audiences in the festive atmosphere and showcase the charm of Chinese culture. The inaugural event was successfully held in New York on Thursday, and the series is scheduled to continue in countries such as Kenya, Spain, Brazil, Australia, France, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The 2025 Spring Festival Gala promises to be a cultural feast, uniting global audiences through the celebration of Chinese New Year traditions and contemporary performances. As CMG intensifies its preparations, anticipation for the gala continues to build, heralding a vibrant start to the Lunar New Year.
