On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for strengthened ties and deeper cooperation between China and Vietnam, emphasizing the development of new productive forces and enhanced connectivity between the two nations. In a phone conversation with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, Xi highlighted the importance of jointly building stable and smooth cross-border industrial and supply chains.
Reflecting on Lam’s state visit to China last August, Xi noted the positive progress made over the past six months in deepening relations between the two parties and countries. He underscored that the upcoming year is significant for both nations, marking the conclusion of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and serving as a pivotal period for the preparation of the 14th National Congress of the CPV.
“We should continue to rejuvenate and strengthen our parties, deepen exchanges of socialist theory and practical experience, and promote the development of the socialist cause amid great changes unseen in a century,” Xi stated.
Xi called for leveraging high-level exchanges to achieve more results in mutually beneficial cooperation. He emphasized the need for warm and practical people-to-people and cultural exchanges, particularly in areas such as media, culture, tourism, and youth engagement at the sub-national level. “By creating more projects that win the hearts of the people, we can strengthen the bonds between our nations,” he added.
The Chinese president also highlighted the importance of international and regional coordination, advocating for the safeguarding of international fairness and justice, and the joint building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Xi commended the achievements of the CPV since its 13th National Congress, acknowledging Vietnam’s overcoming of various challenges and advancements in socialist construction and renovation. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the CPV Central Committee headed by Comrade To Lam, Vietnam will successfully prepare for the 14th National Congress and advance towards its two centennial goals.
In response, Lam expressed sincere condolences for the loss caused by the earthquake in Xizang and confidence that China would overcome the damage under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.
Lam conveyed Vietnam’s admiration for China’s development achievements, noting China’s advantages in economic scale and new productive forces. He expressed optimism that China would continue to achieve greater development accomplishments, benefiting both nations.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation and fostering a stronger bilateral relationship, paving the way for a collaborative future.
