In a significant move to bolster regional ties, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee of China, met with Maulen Ashimbayev, chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan, in Beijing on Monday. The high-level meeting underscores the deepening relationship between the two neighboring nations.
Zhao Leji highlighted the longstanding friendship between China and Kazakhstan, noting that the two countries are more than just neighbors—they are good friends and partners. “Last year, our presidents charted new plans to elevate our bilateral relations to new heights,” Zhao remarked, emphasizing China’s commitment to working closely with Kazakhstan to implement these strategic visions.
The Chinese leader expressed hope that the legislative bodies of both countries would strengthen exchanges and cooperation. “By enhancing our legislative collaboration, we can provide a solid legal guarantee for the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical cooperation across various fields,” Zhao added.
Echoing these sentiments, Maulen Ashimbayev acknowledged the rapid growth of Kazakhstan-China relations. “Under the guidance of our two heads of state, our relationship has entered a golden period of fast growth,” he said. Ashimbayev emphasized the Senate of Kazakhstan’s willingness to deepen exchanges and mutual learning with China’s NPC in legislation and other areas. “We aim to play a positive role in deepening bilateral relations through our legislative efforts,” he stated.
The meeting signifies a mutual commitment to advancing the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership. As both nations look to the future, their collaborative efforts are expected to foster stronger economic, political, and cultural ties, contributing to the stability and prosperity of the region.
