China Dominates Aerials Mixed Team at Freestyle Junior World Championships

China claimed both gold and silver medals in the aerials mixed team event at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Freestyle Junior World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Saturday.

Both Team A and Team B of China advanced to the final, showcasing the nation’s depth of talent in freestyle skiing. Leading the charge for Team B, Wang Qixian, who had previously secured silver in the women’s individual event, set a formidable standard. Launching first, her routine featured the highest degree of difficulty among the female competitors and earned her an impressive 84.10 points.

Her teammates, Gu Jiubo and Geng Hu, followed with daring maneuvers that captivated the judges and audience alike. Gu scored 96.23 points, while Geng was close behind with 95.88 points. Their combined efforts culminated in a total score of 276.21 points, propelling Team B to the top of the podium.

Team A, comprised of Feng Junxi, Yang Zhicheng, and Yang Yuheng, delivered strong performances but ultimately could not surpass their compatriots, securing the silver medal. Canada rounded out the podium, earning the bronze with a total of 230.72 points.

This dominant display cements China’s position as a powerhouse in freestyle skiing at the junior level. Throughout the tournament, China emerged as standout performers, amassing one gold, two silvers, and two bronzes across the individual events.
