Shanghai Sharks Secure 15th Straight Win in CBA; Guangsha Lions Crush Shanxi Loongs

The Shanghai Sharks extended their winning streak to 15 games with a commanding 112-81 victory over the Guangzhou Loong Lions at home on Friday in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). A dominant second-half performance propelled the Sharks to another triumph, solidifying their position in the league standings.

Li Tianrong set the tone early, assisting Li Hongquan for a layup that gave Shanghai an 11-5 lead. However, Guangzhou fought back, and a three-pointer from Yuan Zhaoyao put the visitors ahead by five points.

In a tightly contested match, Kenneth Lofton Jr. tied the game at 63-63 with a second-chance layup. The former NBA forward then connected with Wang Zhelin, whose layup regained a two-point advantage for Shanghai in the second quarter.

The Sharks surged ahead in the second half. Li Tianrong sank a corner three-pointer, increasing the lead to 23 points. Eric Bledsoe, showcasing his playmaking skills, assisted Li for another triple, contributing to Li’s career-high 31 points.

Yuan Tangwen added to the momentum with a long-range three-pointer, extending Shanghai’s lead to 27. The Sharks maintained their dominance, ultimately securing a 31-point victory. This impressive run places them in 12th place in the standings.

In another notable matchup, the first-placed Guangsha Lions overpowered the second-placed Shanxi Loongs with a 111-78 win at home. Shanxi’s Brandon Goodwin provided early momentum for the visitors, scoring two layups that gave them a nine-point lead in the second quarter.

Guangsha responded with determination. Barry Brown Jr. nailed a long-distance three-pointer, narrowing the deficit to six. Sun Minghui then set up Brown for another triple, helping the Lions lead 50-41 at halftime.

After the break, Brown continued his stellar performance, drilling another three-pointer and finishing with a game-high 38 points, including seven triples. Zhao Yanhao connected with Josh Carlton for a layup as the Lions extended their lead.

Guangsha’s decisive 33-point victory marked their sixth consecutive win and their 16th straight home victory. Despite the loss, Shanxi remains in second place.
