The magnitude-6.8 earthquake, which occurred at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, has claimed the lives of at least 126 people and caused significant property damage.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong sent messages of solidarity, affirming Vietnam’s readiness to assist in recovery efforts. Similarly, leaders from Laos, including General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, offered their condolences.
