China’s Special Envoy Attends Ghanaian President Mahama’s Inauguration

In a significant gesture strengthening Sino-African relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Hao Mingjin, attended the inauguration ceremony of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

Hao Mingjin, who serves as the vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, represented President Xi at the high-profile event, underscoring China’s commitment to its partnership with Ghana.

Following the inauguration, President Mahama and Hao Mingjin held a bilateral meeting to discuss the future of China-Ghana relations. Hao conveyed President Xi’s warm congratulations and best wishes, emphasizing the value China places on its traditional friendship with Ghana.

“This year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries,” Hao noted. “China is ready to seize this opportunity to enhance communication with Ghana through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. We aim to elevate our strategic partnership to new heights.”

President Mahama expressed his gratitude to President Xi for sending a special envoy to his inauguration. “Please convey my sincere greetings and respect to President Xi,” Mahama said. He praised the achievements in Ghana-China relations and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening pragmatic cooperation across various fields.

The meeting highlighted the mutual dedication to advancing bilateral ties and fostering long-term strategic partnerships. Both nations look forward to deeper collaboration that will contribute to economic growth and shared prosperity.
