Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy will attend the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as president of Ghana, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
Hao Mingjin, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, will represent China at the inauguration ceremony scheduled for January 7 in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The announcement was made by Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Mahama was declared the winner of the presidential election by the Electoral Commission of Ghana on December 9, 2024. His upcoming inauguration marks the beginning of a new term for the West African nation.
