Chinese Envoy to Attend Ghana’s Presidential Inauguration

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Hao Mingjin, is set to attend the inauguration of Ghana’s president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, in Accra on January 7. The announcement was made by Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on Monday.

Hao Mingjin, who serves as the vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, will represent China at the ceremony in the capital of the West African nation. His attendance underscores the strengthening diplomatic ties between China and Ghana.

John Dramani Mahama was declared the winner of the presidential election by the Electoral Commission of Ghana on December 9, 2024. His inauguration marks a significant event in Ghana’s political landscape, with international representatives showing support and anticipation for continued cooperation.
