Windhoek, Namibia — China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reaffirmed China’s long-standing tradition of commencing each year with a diplomatic visit to Africa, highlighting the unwavering commitment to strengthen Sino-African ties. Meeting with Namibia’s President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Monday, Wang emphasized that this practice has been upheld consistently for 35 years.
“This tradition has never changed or wavered,” Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stated during the meeting in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. “By upholding this tradition, we aim to show the world that regardless of how international and regional situations evolve, China will always be the most credible friend of our brothers and sisters in Africa, the most reliable partner in the pursuit of development and revitalization for African countries, and the strongest backing for Africa in the international arena,” he added.
Wang stressed that strengthening unity and cooperation between China and Africa and jointly safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries align with historical justice and the trends of the times. “It reflects the common aspiration of the combined 2.8 billion people of China and Africa,” he said.
The meeting underscored China’s dedication to deepening relationships with African nations, focusing on mutual development and support. Wang Yi’s visit demonstrates China’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration on various fronts, including economic development, infrastructure, and international diplomacy.
