Xi Jinping Congratulates Kavelashvili on Inauguration as Georgia’s President

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to Mikheil Kavelashvili on his inauguration as the president of Georgia. In his message, Xi emphasized the positive momentum in the China-Georgia strategic partnership.

Xi noted that political mutual trust between China and Georgia has been continuously consolidated. He highlighted the fruitful cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, which has strengthened ties and yielded significant results for both nations. International coordination between the two countries has also been productive, contributing to regional stability and development.

Expressing his commitment to the bilateral relationship, Xi stated that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Georgia relations. He expressed his willingness to work closely with President Kavelashvili to carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and push for greater development of relations to better benefit the peoples of both countries.

Mikheil Kavelashvili was sworn in as Georgia’s sixth president in a ceremony held at the parliament building in late December 2024.
