BEIJING — Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday emphasized the importance of safeguarding migrant workers’ rights during a State Council executive meeting. Addressing key issues that impact millions across the nation, the meeting focused on ensuring timely wage payments to migrant workers, advancing urban renewal projects, and protecting ancient and notable trees.
The premier underscored that guaranteeing wage payments is a significant matter concerning people’s well-being. “It is imperative to earnestly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of migrant workers,” the meeting noted. Li called for strengthened data connectivity among relevant departments, including human resources, social security, and finance, to ensure that workers receive their due compensation without delays.
