The Shanghai Sharks extended their remarkable winning streak to 10 games with a commanding 108-96 victory over the Beikong Royal Fighters at home on Friday night in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
The game started with both teams trading leads in a tightly contested first quarter. Beikong gained a slight edge in the final three minutes, capitalizing on swift transitions to close the period ahead 32-28.
In the second quarter, Jared Sullinger and Chen Guohao dominated the paint for the Royal Fighters, pushing their team further ahead to a 49-41 lead. However, the momentum shifted when Shanghai’s Kenneth Lofton Jr. stepped up his game on both ends of the court. Alongside Eric Bledsoe, the duo ignited a 10-2 run that saw the Sharks reclaim the lead. Despite Beikong’s timeout to halt the surge, Shanghai’s offense remained relentless.
Lofton showcased his versatile offensive skills, from scoring on isolation plays to creating opportunities for his teammates. His efforts propelled the Sharks to a 64-61 advantage at halftime.
The Sharks carried their momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Royal Fighters with a dominant 28-14 run. Patient offensive strategies and solid defense allowed Shanghai to extend their lead to 86-75 by the end of the period.
The final quarter featured an intense battle under the rim between Sullinger and Lofton. While Sullinger’s experience and strength posed challenges, the younger Lofton adapted by hitting jumpers and converting fast-break opportunities. His relentless energy helped the Sharks maintain their double-digit lead, ultimately sealing a 12-point victory.
With this win, the Shanghai Sharks continue to assert themselves as a formidable force in the CBA, showcasing depth and resilience as they eye further successes this season.
