China Urges Respect for Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity in the Middle East

China has called on the international community to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Middle Eastern countries, emphasizing the importance of honoring their legitimate concerns and the independent choices of their people.

In a meeting held in Beijing on Saturday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed these sentiments during talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, underscored that the Middle East belongs to its people and should not be treated as an arena for major-power rivalry or become a victim of geopolitical competition from external nations.

“To bring the region out of chaos and achieve stability, the pressing task is to initiate an immediate ceasefire, halt violence, alleviate the humanitarian crisis, and resume political dialogues and negotiations,” Wang stated. He called for all parties to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability, rather than imposing their will on Middle Eastern countries, pointing fingers, or resorting to sanctions, pressure, and force.

Wang stressed that China, as a good friend and partner of Middle Eastern countries, has consistently supported them in exploring development paths independently, resolving issues through dialogue and consultation, safeguarding their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposing external interference.

China’s appeal reflects its ongoing commitment to promote harmony and stability in the Middle East, advocating for respect of historical and cultural traditions, and supporting the region’s autonomous decisions free from external pressure.
