1. Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland
On December 20, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a significant speech at a meeting commemorating the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland and the inauguration of the sixth-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
In his address, President Xi highlighted the “earthshaking transformation” Macao has undergone since its return, noting the substantial increase in its international standing over the past quarter-century. He praised the unity and hard work of Macao’s residents, emphasizing how their efforts have contributed to the region’s prosperity and stability.
“The achievements of the past 25 years fully demonstrate that the ‘one country, two systems’ principle is the best institutional guarantee for Macao’s long-term prosperity and stability,” President Xi stated.
