As winter blankets the landscapes of Shenyang City in northeast China's Liaoning Province, over 100 Siberian tigers at the Guaipo Siberian Tiger Park are embracing the cold with exuberant playfulness. The dipping temperatures have transformed their habitat into a snowy paradise, much to the delight of these majestic creatures.
The tigers have been spotted leaping through fresh snow, engaging in playful chases, and taking leisurely strolls through the frosted forests. Some are seen huddling together around the trees, their breaths forming delicate clouds in the crisp air.
To ensure the Siberian tigers are well-prepared for the harsh winter, the park's zookeepers have made thoughtful adjustments to their care routines. Diets have been enhanced with additional meat, including beef and pork, to help the tigers build energy reserves against the cold.
“As it's cold in winter, we have added more meat to the tigers' diets, such as beef and pork, to help them resist the cold,” explained Song Haishan, one of the dedicated zookeepers at the park. “We've also been placing dried straws in their outdoor enclosures regularly, which helps protect the tigers from the cold and keeps them warm.”
These efforts have not gone unnoticed by the tigers, who have been seen lounging comfortably on the straw beds, basking in the winter sunshine. The improved living conditions have not only kept them warm but also contributed to their overall well-being during the chilly season.
The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger, is a critically endangered species native to the Russian Far East and northeast China. Conservation efforts in places like Guaipo Siberian Tiger Park play a crucial role in protecting these magnificent animals and raising awareness about their plight.
Visitors to the park can witness firsthand the beauty and vitality of the Siberian tigers as they thrive in their snowy habitat, a testament to the successful conservation and care provided by the dedicated team at the park.
