Chinese Defense Ministry: U.S. Weapons Won’t Save Taiwan’s DPP

Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang issued a stern warning to Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities on Thursday, stating that U.S. weaponry will not be the magic straw that can save them. He emphasized that these weapons are merely easy targets on the battlefield.

At a regular press conference, Zhang responded to reports of the arrival of the first batch of M1A2T battle tanks purchased by Taiwan from the United States. He cautioned that seeking independence by soliciting U.S. support is doomed to failure and that resisting reunification through force leads nowhere.

Zhang urged the United States to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques. He called on the U.S. to honor its commitment of not supporting “Taiwan independence,” immediately cease arming Taiwan, and stop actions that undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.

The spokesperson added that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will comprehensively improve its combat readiness and enhance its capability to fight and win. He affirmed that the PLA is prepared to firmly crush any “Taiwan independence” separatist plots and foreign interference.
