China’s Top Legislator Zhao Leji Calls for Enhanced Role of People’s Congresses in Modernization
China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, has called upon people’s congresses across the nation to fully embrace their role in advancing Chinese modernization. Speaking at a lawmakers’ symposium on Tuesday during a legislative session, Zhao emphasized the significant progress made by the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee in contributing to the country’s annual economic and social development goals.
Zhao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, highlighted the importance of upholding and developing whole-process people’s democracy.
