Beijing — Xi Jinping, Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), presented an order on Monday promoting a military officer to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.
The promoted officer, Chen Hui, serves as the Political Commissar of the Army of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The ceremony was held in Beijing, where Xi Jinping personally presented the certificate of order to Chen Hui, extending his congratulations to the newly appointed general.
Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the CMC, announced the order of promotion, which was signed by Xi. He Weidong, another Vice Chairman of the CMC, presided over the ceremony. The event was attended by senior military officials and representatives, signifying the importance of the occasion in the PLA’s ongoing development and modernization efforts.
The promotion of Chen Hui reflects the leadership’s commitment to strengthening the armed forces and honoring distinguished service within the military ranks. As the Political Commissar, Chen Hui plays a critical role in the political work and ideological guidance of the PLA Army.
