On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China, Sebastián Bandera, Second Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of Uruguay in China, brought a taste of South America to the Chinese people by introducing yerba mate tea, an iconic beverage deeply rooted in Uruguayan culture.
Yerba mate tea, known for its rich flavor and energizing properties, is a staple in Uruguay and several other South American countries. Traditionally shared among friends and family, it symbolizes community and hospitality. Bandera expressed his pleasure at seeing this cherished tradition gaining appreciation in China.
“It’s wonderful to see yerba mate tea becoming a bridge between our cultures,” Bandera remarked.
