In the Seac Pai Van Park of China’s Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), a giant panda family has become a cherished symbol of joy and unity for residents. In June 2016, Xin Xin gave birth to twin panda cubs. The government organized a naming process, receiving 1,718 suggestions from residents. The twins were officially named Jian Jian and Kang Kang, derived from the Chinese word jiankang, meaning “healthy.” Their birth was celebrated across Macao, symbolizing hope and vitality.
