China Ready to Play Constructive Role in Syria’s Stability

China has expressed its readiness to play a constructive role in bringing peace and stability back to Syria, as tensions in the region continue to escalate. Speaking at a United Nations Security Council briefing on Syria, Geng Shuang, China’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, emphasized the urgency of calming the situation.

“Recently, the situation in Syria has undergone drastic changes, to which China pays great attention,” Geng remarked. “It is imperative to stabilize the security situation.”

He called on all parties involved in the Syrian conflict to exercise calm and restraint. “We urge all sides to refrain from actions that may escalate the situation and prevent new conflicts,” he stressed.

Highlighting humanitarian concerns, the ambassador urged measures to prohibit attacks against civilians. He emphasized the importance of protecting diplomatic missions and ensuring the safety of foreign nationals within Syria.

“We hope that Syria’s state institutions will remain operational to create conditions for the restoration of social order,” Geng stated. He also expressed hope that influential countries, particularly those in the region, would contribute positively to stabilizing Syria.

China’s stance signals its commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts in resolving the Syrian crisis. As regional and global powers grapple with the complexities of the conflict, China’s involvement could play a significant role in facilitating dialogue and rebuilding efforts.
