The taikonauts aboard the China Space Station are gearing up for their maiden spacewalk

The crew of Shenzhou-19, currently stationed aboard the China Space Station, are preparing to embark on their first extravehicular activities (EVAs) in the coming days, as announced by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on Monday.

Over the past 48 days, the taikonauts have been diligently working to ensure the smooth operation of the space station. They have successfully completed a crew rotation with the Shenzhou-18 team, undertaken maintenance tasks for the station’s platform, and overseen the life and health support systems.

In anticipation of the upcoming spacewalk, the crew has conducted thorough inspections and tests on their EVA suits. They have also participated in comprehensive system-wide pressure emergency drills and medical rescue exercises to prepare for any contingencies during their mission.

Beyond their preparatory activities, the Shenzhou-19 crew has been actively engaged in a range of space science experiments, contributing valuable data to ongoing research efforts.

The CMSA confirmed that the taikonauts are in excellent health, and the space station is functioning optimally, providing ideal conditions for the upcoming EVAs.
