Beijing, November 14, 2023 — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday pledged to position China as a global force for peace, unity, openness, justice, and inclusion. Speaking at the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2024 in Beijing, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to fostering a community with a shared future for mankind as the noble goal of its major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted China’s active efforts in striving for the restoration of world peace and saving human lives. “China will firmly remain a force for peace,” he stated.
Addressing global conflicts, Wang reiterated China’s objective and impartial stance on the Ukraine crisis, actively advocating for peace and negotiations to resolve the situation. Regarding the Gaza conflict, he expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives and stressed that the urgent priority is a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. “The key focus is to ensure humanitarian aid, and the fundamental solution lies in the realization of the two-state solution,” Wang added.
Wang Yi also called on the incoming U.S. administration to make the right decisions and work with China towards stable, healthy, and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations. He urged for the elimination of interference and overcoming obstacles to achieve mutual benefits.
Furthermore, the foreign minister outlined China’s plans to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and practical collaboration with Russia. He emphasized promoting China-EU relations to progress steadily along a path of independence, mutual achievement, and global benefit.
