China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has pledged to position China as a global force for peace, unity, openness, justice, and inclusion. Speaking at the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2024 held in Beijing on Tuesday, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
“China actively strives for the restoration of world peace and works to save human lives,” Wang said, highlighting the nation’s dedication to global stability.
Addressing the Ukraine crisis, Wang noted that China has consistently maintained an objective and impartial stance, actively advocating for peace and negotiations. He underscored the importance of dialogue in resolving international conflicts.
On the Gaza conflict, Wang expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives. “The urgent priority is a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities,” he stated. Wang emphasized that ensuring humanitarian aid is crucial, and the fundamental solution lies in the realization of the two-state solution.
Wang reaffirmed China’s role as a steadfast force for peace, calling on the incoming U.S. administration to make the right decisions. He urged the United States to work with China in the same direction, eliminate interference, overcome obstacles, and strive for stable, healthy, and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations.
Highlighting international cooperation, Wang stated that China will deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and practical collaboration with Russia. Additionally, China aims to promote China-EU relations to move steadily forward along a path of independence, mutual achievement, and global benefit.
