The China Coast Guard (CCG) has closely monitored a Philippine civilian vessel delivering supplies to a grounded military ship at Ren'ai Jiao in the South China Sea, according to a statement released on Tuesday by CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun.
With China's permission, the Philippines sent a civilian vessel on Thursday to provide supplies to its illegally grounded military ship on Ren'ai Jiao. The CCG inquired about the vessel's activities and maintained surveillance throughout the operation to ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
Liu expressed hope that the Philippine side would honor its commitments and collaborate with China to jointly manage the maritime situation. "We hope to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region," he stated.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that the CCG will continue to carry out law enforcement activities to safeguard China's rights in Nansha Qundao and the surrounding waters, including Ren'ai Jiao. "We remain steadfast in protecting our sovereignty and maritime interests," Liu added.
