China Coast Guard Monitors Philippine Resupply Mission at Ren’ai Jiao

The China Coast Guard (CCG) closely monitored a Philippine civilian vessel that recently delivered supplies to an illegally grounded military ship at Ren’ai Jiao in the South China Sea, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun informed the media that the Philippines, with China’s permission, dispatched a civilian vessel last Thursday to provide supplies to its military ship grounded on Ren’ai Jiao. The CCG conducted inquiries and verified the activities of the Philippine vessel, maintaining surveillance throughout the mission.

“We hope the Philippine side will honor its commitments, work cooperatively with China, and jointly manage the maritime situation,” Liu stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the region.

Liu further reaffirmed that the CCG will continue to perform law enforcement activities to safeguard China’s rights in the Nansha Qundao and surrounding waters, including Ren’ai Jiao.

Ren’ai Jiao, a reef within China’s Nansha Qundao, has been a point of contention due to the presence of a grounded Philippine military ship. The monitoring of the resupply mission reflects ongoing efforts by China to assert its territorial claims and ensure cooperation in the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
