One person has died following an explosion at a residential building in Shenzhen, a major city in southern China, on Wednesday afternoon. Local authorities confirmed the fatality and reported no other injuries.
The city’s fire and rescue services received emergency calls about the incident at 2:46 p.m. Swiftly responding to the scene in Nanshan District, they dispatched 16 fire engines and 80 firefighters to tackle the blaze.
By 6 p.m., the fire was extinguished. Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the cause of the explosion, but an investigation is currently underway.
Local officials are urging residents to remain calm as they conduct a thorough inquiry to prevent similar incidents in the future.
