China and Vietnam have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening high-level exchanges and deepening cooperation across various sectors to support each other’s modernization efforts.
On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son co-chaired the 16th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation in Beijing.
Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable strategic orientation between the two nations. He highlighted that the top leaders of both parties and countries have reached significant consensus on advancing the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Noting that next year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, Wang Yi expressed China’s readiness to work with Vietnam to plan the next stage of cooperation from a strategic and long-term perspective.
He called for consolidating the foundation of security and making effective use of the “3+3” strategic dialogue mechanism on diplomacy, defense, and public security. Wang Yi also stressed the need to build a stable and unimpeded cross-border industrial and supply chain, enhance cooperation in emerging areas, and foster people-to-people friendships by increasing flights between the two countries.
Wang Yi underscored the importance of practicing genuine multilateralism, properly managing differences, and pushing for new progress in maritime cooperation.
Bui Thanh Son affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders. He stated that Vietnam views the upcoming 75th anniversary as an opportunity to maintain frequent high-level contacts and continuously enhance political mutual trust.
He expressed Vietnam’s readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in economy and trade, infrastructure, agriculture, culture, and local affairs. He also emphasized strengthening communication and coordination in multilateral affairs and appropriately managing differences to elevate the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
