Iranian President and Chinese Vice Premier Strengthen Strategic Partnership in Tehran

Tehran, Iran — In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing in Tehran on Wednesday. The two leaders pledged to enhance efforts to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Iran and China.

During the meeting, Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, conveyed President Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings and best wishes to President Pezeshkian. He emphasized Iran’s substantial regional and international influence and its role as a key comprehensive strategic partner for China.

Zhang highlighted the successful meeting between Presidents Xi Jinping and Pezeshkian at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, in October. The summit provided top-level guidance for strengthening China-Iran relations, setting a clear direction for future cooperation.

“China firmly supports Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and legitimate rights,” Zhang stated. He expressed Beijing’s readiness to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders and to promote the stable and long-term growth of China-Iran relations.

President Pezeshkian, in turn, asked Zhang to convey his sincere regards to President Xi Jinping. He underscored Iran’s strong commitment to developing relations with China, highlighting the strategic importance of their bilateral ties. “Iran is ready to continue mutual support, deepen practical cooperation, and promote further growth in the comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries,” Pezeshkian affirmed.

Also on Wednesday, Vice Premier Zhang held talks with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. The officials engaged in in-depth discussions on implementing the China-Iran comprehensive cooperation plan, focusing on areas of mutual interest and potential growth.

The meetings mark a significant step forward in Sino-Iranian relations, signaling both nations’ intent to strengthen collaboration amid evolving global dynamics.
