Chinese Embassy Urges Nationals to Leave Syria Amid Escalating Conflict

The Chinese embassy in Syria has issued a warning to all Chinese nationals, advising them to leave the country promptly as the security situation deteriorates. The embassy’s announcement on Thursday highlighted the intensifying clashes in Syria’s northwestern regions.

“Chinese nationals in Syria should evacuate while commercial flights are still operating or via land border ports,” the embassy stated. “Those who insist on traveling to Syria or choosing not to leave certain areas may be exposed to extremely high security risks and affect the effectiveness of assistance.”

The advisory comes in the wake of the capture of the central Syrian city of Hama by rebel forces led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an Islamist group. This development follows the group’s recent seizure of Aleppo, Syria’s commercial hub, in a swift offensive against President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

The escalation in Hama and other regions underscores the intensifying conflict between Syrian government forces and rebel groups, including HTS, which controls parts of northwestern Syria. The deteriorating security landscape poses significant risks not only to locals but also to foreign nationals residing in the country.

Chinese nationals are urged to prioritize their safety and make necessary arrangements to depart Syria as soon as possible.
