European News Exchange MD Advocates for Enhanced China-Europe Media Collaboration

The 12th Global Video Media Forum commenced in Quanzhou, southeast China’s Fujian Province, bringing together media professionals from around the world to discuss the future of global media exchanges.

Amidst the buzz of the forum, Adrian Wells, Managing Director of the European News Exchange, emphasized the crucial role of media in bridging the gaps between Europe and China. In an exclusive interview with CGTN Digital reporter Shen Shiwei, Wells highlighted the existing misunderstandings that often cloud the relationship between the two regions.

“There are many misunderstandings between Europe and China,” Wells noted. “The media’s role is to rise above politics and foster meaningful exchange and cooperation.” He stressed that by providing comprehensive coverage and facilitating open dialogues, media outlets can help audiences gain a more nuanced understanding of global affairs.

Wells underscored the importance of showcasing the full spectrum of developments in China. “It’s important to provide people with a full picture of what’s happening in China, from electrification to infrastructure development,” he said. By highlighting these advancements, media can offer valuable insights into China’s rapid growth and its implications for the global community.

At the same time, Wells advocated for sharing Europe’s perspective with Chinese audiences. “While sharing Europe’s viewpoint, we can promote mutual understanding and collaboration,” he added. This balanced exchange of information is essential for fostering trust and cooperation between Europe and China.

The Global Video Media Forum serves as a pivotal platform for media professionals to engage in dialogue and explore opportunities for collaboration. As the forum continues, participants like Wells are hopeful that these conversations will lead to stronger ties and a more interconnected global media landscape.
