China Urges Dialogue and Ceasefire Amid Northern Myanmar Conflict

China is closely following developments in northern Myanmar and is urging all relevant parties to engage in dialogue and consultation to halt hostilities as soon as possible. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks on Wednesday, emphasizing the need to settle differences through peaceful means and avoid further escalation.

On Tuesday night, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) announced a ceasefire, stating it is “willing to engage in peace talks with the Myanmar army under China’s mediation.”

Lin welcomed the MNDAA’s “recent positive remarks,” highlighting the importance of stability in the region. “In particular, they should not endanger the security and safety of China’s border areas, Chinese people living in the border areas, and Chinese projects, companies, and personnel in Myanmar,” he said.

He reiterated China’s commitment to supporting the peace process in northern Myanmar and pledged to continue efforts to facilitate dialogue between the conflicting parties.
