The China Coast Guard (CCG) has urged the Philippines to immediately cease provocative actions after several Philippine vessels illegally gathered in the waters around Houteng Jiao in China’s Nansha Qundao under the guise of fishing, a CCG spokesperson said on Monday.
According to spokesperson Liu Dejun, the Philippine vessels ignored warnings and dissuasion from the CCG. These vessels were accompanied by media reporters who were staging scenes for publicity purposes.
The CCG has taken necessary control measures against the vessels to safeguard China’s maritime rights and interests. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of respecting China’s sovereignty and urged the Philippines to stop actions that could escalate tensions.
